The design of the American Eagle was updated and released halfway through 2021, making 2023 the second full year with the newly designed coin. The front of each coin features an image of Lady Liberty walking, with her arms opened in a welcoming manner, with the sun rising behind her. She carries an olive branch in one arm, and the American flag is draped behind her, displaying the 50 stars which represent the 50 US states. Behind her is the word ‘Liberty’. The coin’s year of minting, 2023 is inscribed at the bottom of the coin, and the famous American phrase ‘In God We Trust’, is inscribed to the right of her image.
The reverse side of the coin features an image of an American Bald Eagle in flight with a branch in its talons. Circling the left side of the coin are the words 'United States of America'. On the right side of the coin are it's weight and metal type. Each 1 Ounce silver American Eagle coin contains 1 troy ounce of 999 fine investment grade silver bullion. Also to the right of the image is the phrase that has become symbolic of democracy in the USA, 'E Pluribus Unum'.
