About the Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin
The Canadian Maple Leaf gold coin was initially introduced in in 1979. The coin instantly gained a huge following as at that time Apartheid massively curtailed the sale of gold Krugerrands, which were the only other major gold coin available to investors at that time. The Maple Leaf has remained at the forefront of the investment bullion market for more than 40 years.

The gold Canadian Maple Leaf comes in 1/10 ounce, 1/4 ounce, 1/2 ounce and 1 ounce sizes. A range of special edition gold Maple Leafs have also been released throughout the years. In 2007 the Royal Canadian Mint also released the 99.999 fine gold Maple Leaf.  The Canadian Maple Leaf also comes in silver, platinum and palladium.

The coins are produced by the Royal Canadian Mint.

Who is the Royal Canadian Mint?

Today, the mint is responsible for manufacturing all Canadian coinage in addition to its bullion products.

The most popular bullion product produced by the Royal Canadian Mint is the Canadian Maple Leaf coin series.
