Design of the 1 Ounce Niue Owl Coin
Each Niue Owl coin features a portrait image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the front. Encircling her portrait are the words 'Elizabeth II' and 'Niue'. The coin's face value of 2 Dollars (New Zealand Dollars) also appears encircling her portrait. At the base of the portrait is the year of minting, 2022.
The reverse side of each coin features an image of an Athenian Owl. The Owl is perched in an olive tree, with a crescent moon in the background. The coin's size of 1 troy ounce and purity of 999 are located at the bottom of the image.
What is the Niue Owl Series
The Niue Owl series is a series of silver bullion coins that is released annually by Niue. Niue is an island in the Pacific, however due to its proximity to New Zealand the country uses the New Zealand Dollar as its official currency. Each coin has a value of $2 New Zealand Dollars, and is backed by the governemnt of the Island of Niue.
These coins are unique in that their rigged boarder alows them to stack securely in place. This is the only coin currently in circulation with this design.
These coins are sold individually, in tubes of 20, and in monster boxes of 500 coins. Currently the Niue Owl coin is only available in Silver.
