About the Silver Koala Series
The silver Koala coin series was first released by the Perth Mint in 2007. It was the second in the series of Koala coins released by the Perth Mint. In 1987, the Perth Mint first released the Koala coin in platinum. The coin was predominantly offered in 1 Oz size, but was also available in other sizes, including gram denominations. In 2007 the Perth Mint introduced the Koala series in silver, and in 2008 discontinued the coin in platinum. In 2011 the platinum Koala was replaced with the Platinum Platypus instead.
Since its release in 2007, the silver Koala series has been very popular. Like the silver Kookaburra coin series, this coin features a different image of a Koala each year, which makes these coins popular with both investors and collectors alike. The 2020 silver Koala is available in both 1 Ounce and 1 Kilogram sizes.
Design of the 2020 Silver 1 Oz Koala Coin
The front of the 2020 Silver Koala coin features an image of a Koala hugging a tree. The top of the coin features the words 'Australian Koala'. The bottom of the coin features the coin's year of minting, weight, purity and metal type. All 2020 silver Koala coins contain 9999 fine silver bullion, making them some of the purest silver bullion coins available to investors.
The reverse of the silver Koala coin features an image of Queen Elizabeth II in the center. Around the top of the coin the words 'Elizabeth II' and 'Australia' are written. The base of the coin show's the coin's face value. Each 1 Oz silver Koala coin has a face value of $1 AUD.
