Design of the Perth Mint Lunar Rabbit
The Perth Mint lunar Rabbit coin features a portrait image of Queen Elizabeth II on the front. The words 'Elizabeth II', and 'Australia' appear on the top of the coin. At the bottom of the coin are it's weight of 1 ounce, its purity of 999.5 fine, and its face value of 100 Australian Dollars. This is likely the final year that the coin will feature Her Majesty on the front, as her image is set to be replaced by an image of King Charles III.
The reverse side of the coin features an image of a rabbit jumping in a field. The Chinese and English words for Rabbit feature at the top of the coin, with the coin's year of minting imprinted just below.
About the Lunar Rabbit Coin
The Platinum Australian Lunar coin is released by the Perth Mint, and is part of the Mint's Lunar series. The Lunar series is a series of 12 coins, each released annually, in line with the Chinese lunar calendar. This series is in its third cycle of release.
The Rabbit coin series is currently only available in the 1 ounce size in platinum, although other sizes of the coin are available in gold and silver. Each coin comes sealed in a plastic capsule to protect it from scratching or damage.
