Each coin contains .443 oz, or 13.78 grams of investment grade gold bullion.

The front of the coin depicts an image of Austrian Emperor Franz Josef I. The reverse of the coin features an image of the coat of arms of Austria in the center of a double headed eagle.

The coin was initially introduced in 1892 as part of the gold standard introduced in the Austro-Hungarian empire.

The 4 Ducat gold coin is minted at the Austrain Mint. The Austrian Mint also produces the Philharmonic series of coins in gold, silver and platinum.

Each coin comes in a plastic slip.
